Kiss Me, Kate is a multiple Tony Award winning musical featuring a swinging score by Cole Porter that was most recently revived on Broadway in 1999. The production tells the story of a theater troupe preparing to open a musical version of William Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. However, the lead actress and actor are celebrating the one year anniversary of their divorce and are barely speaking with each other. Featuring a revolving set that lets you see the action both on stage and behind the scenes, the show features such timeless classics as “It’s Too Darn Hot!,” “Brush Up Your Shakespeare,” “Why Can’t you Behave,” and “Another Openin’, Another Show.”
Kiss Me, Kate has a cast of 48 students and features Matt Weldon as Fred C. Graham, Lauren Ringel as Lilli Vanessi, Brittany Palmer as Lois Lane, Mike Weingand as Bob Calhoun, and Matt Van Slyke and Woody Goldsmith as the Gangsters. The show is stage managed by Annie Durham and assistant directed by Robyn Novak and Woody Goldsmith. Including the Orchestra and Technical Crews, well over one hundred students have contributed their talents to this show.
